In Late 2015 Pieper Houston completed its work on the expansion to the third-largest shopping center in Texas.  Baybrook Mall in Webster, TX now covers 1.8 million square feet this expansion that added about 555,000 square feet.

With McCarthy acting as general contractor,extensive demolition and expansion of the new Lester and Sue Smith Holocaust Museum opened its doors late 2019. This project more than doubles the building’s original size from 21,000 square feet to 57,000 square feet. The museum includes two new floor levels, as well as an amphitheater, an expanded parking lot and a monument sign. Pieper’s role on this project was to install not only the electrical infrastructure but to fine tune the specialty lighting used to enhance the important exhibits in this beautiful museum.

The Holocaust Museum Houston has won the Houston Business Journal’s 2020 Landmark award for Community Impact. This renovation project was a highlight of our year and we couldn’t be more pleased with the museum getting the recognition it deserves. We encourage everyone to visit the newly renovated spaces and explore the important historical lessons the Holocaust Museum Houston has on display.

Pieper began working on renovations in mid-2019 with general contractor, Tellepsen Builders and property owner, Brookfield Properties to completely transform the common areas of Allen Center II and Allen Center III.   Located in the heart of downtown Houston, both buildings’ lobbies are to be renovated with Allen Center II to receive a 2-story lobby and a skybridge to connect the two buildings.  Two Allen Center has over 1 million square feet and 36 floors while Three Allen Center is more than 1.2 million square feet and 50 floors.

Pieper-Houston Electric is working to complete the electrical install on the 15-month ground up project with DPR as general contractor.  This project is for “The Re-center”, a nonprofit organization that aids homeless men and women in rebuilding and reclaiming their lives. The project is a ground up five-story 50,500-sq.-ft. multi-use building with dining room, meeting room, lounge, offices, 62 individual residential units, terrace, and landscaping.

Pieper is working with Arc-Con Construction and the City of Houston on the $23.8 million dollar, ground up Affordable Housing Center – Operations Campus, also known as Emancipation Center – One.   This Campus is 5 stories and includes an open parking garage and a three story, 20 unit residential building.  Pieper’s role is to install the electrical infrastructure and related electrical operations.

Woodbranch Park

Located in the Energy Corridor, Woodbranch Park features two 175,000 sq. ft. office buildings overlooking an internal park with a major water feature. Partnering with Kirksey Architecture and Tellepsen Builders, Pieper is currently working on one of the new, seven-story office buildings, as well as the parking garage. The projects have been designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.

Willowick Condos

Originally built in the 1960s, this 114-unit, 15-story residential tower received its first major facelift with our help. Located in the Galleria area, The Willowick Condos was tricky at times because of the unique way in which it was constructed, according to Pieper’s Project Manager Josh Lauret.

Updates to the condos included: an upscale amenities deck with a swimming pool, water fountain features and a pavilion with fireplace and an outdoor kitchen. As the design engineer for the electrical systems, Pieper’s attention to detail came in handy. Because the pool is located on the roof of the parking garage, the landscape lighting around the pool and amenities deck were intricate and challenging.

In addition to working on these changes, Pieper also helped complete the underground parking garage and install the fans needed to ventilate it.

West Memorial Place

Pieper is proud to have helped with The West Memorial Place, a 12-story office building with 9-level parking garage targeting LEED Gold Certification. The building features a fitness center, showers, lockers, on-site café and access to hiking and biking trails.

Pieper installed the electrical, lighting and fire alarm and partnered with Skanska, HOK Houston and Wylie Consulting Engineers.

Star of Hope

The Star of Hope Cornerstone Community consists of seven buildings that offer those that are homeless or near homeless emergency care, counseling, health care, job placement, education and housing. Pieper handled the electrical wiring and fire alarm of the 48-acre site to help ensure everyone housed there is well taken care of and safe.

Nordstrom

Nordstrom was an exciting building for Pieper to be a part of. The project was a ground-up build that ultimately included an in-store restaurant, alterations office and more. Pieper was responsible for installing the electrical and fire alarm systems, HVAC control and lighting control.

Memorial Assistance Ministries

Memorial Assistance Ministries supports families and individuals “who find themselves in temporary crisis and in need of assistance to maintain self-sufficiency and avoid homelessness.” The organization helps people meet their basic needs, including rent and utility assistance, at its one-story, 46,000 sq. ft. building.

For this design/build project, Pieper teamed up with Brookstone and Kirksey Architecture to engineer and install the electrical systems. We completed the project in November 2012, and continue to visit the facility about once a month for lighting and electrical maintenance.

Houston Food Bank

Winner in the non-profit category of the 2013 Development of Distinction Award, presented by the Houston District Council of the Urban Land Institute, the Houston Food Bank is a source of food for hunger relief charities in 18 southern Texas counties. Teaming up with Tellepsen Builders, Pieper helped renovate the 30-year-old Houston Food Bank to triple its distribution capacity. The 308,000 sq. ft. facility is the nation’s largest capacity Feeding America food bank, and its energy costs are 40% less than projected.

Houston Area Safety Council

It was smooth sailing for Pieper, Tellepsen Builders, Kirksey Architecture and the Houston Area Safety Council on this two-story, 68,000 sq. ft. project. The Houston Area Safety Council’s new training facility handles a large portion of the safety training and badging for Houston’s petrochemical industry. The facility opened its doors in September 2013.

Hilton Garden Inn

Located in the heart of Houston’s bustling Energy Corridor, the Hilton Garden Inn stands as a testimony to Pieper Electric’s dedication to professionalism and efficiency. Partnering with Lyda Swinerton Construction Company, Pieper handled all electrical design and engineering on this speedy design/build.

Pieper Project Manager Reno Luxardo oversaw the project which was completed in 2009. “This was the first time we had partnered with Swinerton,” commented Luxardo. “But after working with them on the Hilton Garden Inn, we teamed up on an Embassy Suites just across the highway as well. It’s proven to be a successful partnership.”

According to Luxardo, the seven-story hotel was a fast-tracked project, completed in one year. Located on Katy Freeway just west of Sam Houston Tollway, the hotel features more than 3,600 sq. ft. of flexible meeting and event space and serves as an ideal location for travelling professionals.

Embassy Suites

Partnering with Lyda Swinerton and MCS Architects, Pieper completed this Embassy Suites in April 2009. The 197,000 sq. ft. hotel features 7,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and 216 guest rooms.

For this fast-tracked, one-year, ground-up project, we installed all electrical systems, a generator back-up and dimming systems for the meeting rooms. Routing the center point incoming power posed a challenge, as it required a 22′ deep excavation adjacent to the service road around existing water, gas and fiber infrastructure that serves the Energy Corridor.

City of League City – Police Station

Partnering with JE Dunn Construction and PGAL, Pieper was pleased to be part of the team for this brand-new police station, city jail and emergency operations center. Pieper installed the electrical system on this two-story, 72,000 sq. ft. facility. The project was completed in May 2014.

City of Houston – Central Permitting Center

Pieper professionals love a challenge, and this four-story building is exactly that. Constructed in the early 1900s, the Central Permitting Center underwent a complete renovation. Everything from the original columns to the brick was restored.

The main challenge was installing cable the old-fashioned way, beneath a computer-raised floor. Project Foremen Reggie Comer and Anthony Lara teamed up with Project Manager Reno Luxardo to install electrical and fire alarm systems, all while maintaining the architectural integrity of the building.

City Centre 3 & 4

A six-story, 120,000 sq. ft. retail and office building now occupies the vacant space at Beltway 8 and Interstate-10. Level one serves as the home to restaurants and retail, while the upper levels serve as office space. In addition, Texas A&M’s Mays Business School has leased 24,000 sq. ft. in the new building to open a new satellite classroom for its Professional MBA program.

Pieper handled the electrical distribution, core power and lighting and fire alarm systems. Pieper Project Manager Reno Luxardo said the project’s fast time frame made this building a unique challenge.

The project was built to attain a LEED Silver rating. For their subcontractors’ and their work, Hoar Construction was a 2013 finalist for the Associated Builders & Contractors of Greater Houston’s Excellence in Construction Award.

Alzheimer’s Association

Pieper partnered with Linbeck, Gensler and I. A. Naman & Associates to complete the two-story renovation of the Alzheimer’s Association. Pieper completed the project in 2014 over a span of six months, installing the electrical and fire alarm systems.
