Out of a finalist panel of 15 projects chosen throughout the state of Texas, Marathon Petroleum was awarded the “Outstanding Construction Awards for 2006.”

Marathon Petroleum allowed us to display our true operating procedures and core team efforts at their best. Not only was this project under extreme pressure to finish within a specified time, it was also viewed as a huge accomplishment for the whole construction team.

David Hughes said, “We will not be remembered by our projects as much as the relationships that we constructed during our opportunities.”

Hewlett Packard

Pieper and Hewlett-Packard have built a solid and successful relationship over the 24+ years we have worked together. HP’s Houston office is continually expanding, remodeling and evolving, and Pieper has been there to help HP every step of the way.

In fact, Pieper has handled 95% of HP’s Houston manufacturing facilities. Pieper has also installed and maintained much of the electrical infrastructure, as well as wired many interior office build outs and remodels.

Pieper’s commitment to quick and reliable service is evident through the permanent staff of 4-10 that stay on HP’s Houston site to ensure HP is always up and running.

The most recent contract for HP consisted of completely wiring a new testing facility and installing a one-megawatt generator for the standalone building. Under short time constraints, Pieper finished the project in just three months, allowing HP to get a jump start on testing new technologies and to put the company’s products on the market.

Guhn Road Distribution Warehouse

Located in the northwest industrial corridor, Forum Energy Technologies needed an extremely quick turnaround for this $1.2 million project — just 90 days.

The 250,000 sq. ft. warehouse features 25 ft. racking with aisles, and Pieper had to take extra special care to ensure the lighting was centered precisely. Using laser equipment, Pieper determined where to put lights based on the column structure.

“The most difficult part about the project was that Pieper had to complete the main service in three days,” said Pieper Project Foreman Eric Nicasio.

EagleBurgmann

Located on the northwest side of town, this design/build project for EagleBurgmann involved building a four-story addition to an existing facility. Pieper’s responsibilities included installation and engineering of the electrical systems.

The new addition was completed in August 2012, and total renovations were finished in December 2012.

Daniel Measurement & Control

Daniel Measurement & Control, owned by Emerson Processing, currently occupies two buildings that Pieper frequently performs maintenance work on – a manufacturing facility and Daniel’s headquarters.

As Daniel expanded into the manufacturing facility, Pieper was tasked with engineering the electrical design and installation for the facility. Pieper assisted by relocating power for existing machinery, installing the electrical source for new equipment and routinely inspecting the existing electrical system for energy-efficient and cost-effective solutions.

Alcon

Alcon manufactures eye care products at its facility located just south of Reliant Park. For more than 15 years, Pieper has stopped by the facility about once a week to provide maintenance services. As Alcon’s preferred electrical contractor, we do a little bit of everything, from installing energy-saving lighting updates, to changing lamps and ballasts in parking lot pole lights and throughout their building, and adding circuits and outlets throughout the facility.

Pieper does a lot of work inside Alcon’s three clean rooms, which require us to wear gowns and be exceptionally clean and precise. The clean rooms are Alcon’s “bread and butter,” according to Pieper Special Projects and Service Account Manager David Galindo, “where they make all of their products, so they have strict policies we must follow, and it requires an extra level of care.”

We also installed a complex conveyor system from Japan, which took quite a bit of consulting with the manufacturer’s engineers. Currently, we’re working on a build-out in Alcon’s annex building, where a molding lab and a clean room are being built.
