Pieper begin the install of electrical infrastructure to the new addition of Dawson High School in late 2018.  Pieper worked with Stewart Builders on the extensive renovations to the existing buildings during 2019.  Along with the new addition and renovations, to the existing school structure, Pieper Houston Electric installed the complex electrical wiring for the district’s largest football stadium, The Rig, including a new press box.

Turner Stadium

As the home field for Humble ISD high school since 1968, Turner Stadium obviously has a lot of history. However, in order to continue to serve as host for the school’s athletic activities, the stadium desperately needed a renovation. The $19.9 million project included a new field house, new two-story press box, new concession and restroom facilities, new grandstands, new stadium lighting, additional parking and new open-air home and visitor entrance plazas and ticket booths.

To begin the project, the entire 40-year-old stadium was demolished and rebuilt from the ground up. Pieper brought in all new power distribution for the buildings, phone systems, scoreboards and stadium lighting, bringing it up to UIL standards. Most notable, this was all completed within an 11-month timeframe in order to have the stadium ready for the fall football season.

The renovated stadium seats up to 11,500, and hosted the 2012 Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympics Track and Field event. The Junior Olympics draws 10,000 athletes and is the largest multi-sports event conducted annually for young athletes. Attracting the Junior Olympics was contingent upon completing the renovation.

Abshier Stadium

Just in time for kick off, Pieper completed a new three-story press box at the existing Abshier Stadium for Deer Park Independent School District. The press box features state-of-the-art sound and A/V equipment, as well as VIP lounges, scout boxes and a full camera setup.

“With all of its features, it really is a collegiate-level press box,” said Project Manager John Burkhart.

Working under strict time constraints, Pieper quickly finished the project in eight months – just in time for the 2011-2012 high school football season.

Reliant Park

Over the years, Pieper has worked with both Manhattan Construction and SMG, Reliant Park’s management company, to keep Reliant Park in tip-top shape. A facility that sees hundreds of thousands of people needs to look its best and constantly be updated, whether it’s the practice bubble, interior or exterior of the stadium, inside the center or arena, the fountains or the plazas and parking lots.

With such a large facility to maintain, Pieper Special Projects and Service Account Manager visits Reliant Park every couple of weeks to maintain it. We regularly perform power quality analyses to check on the electrical systems, and we also carefully inspect all of the electrical equipment. For example, when the old fountain and outside lighting in Carruth Plaza outside of the Astrodome started to corrode, we replaced and updated it. We also performed all of the electrical repairs to the hurricane-damaged Reliant Stadium.

We did the electrical work for the Director’s Club build out on the seventh floor of Reliant Stadium, and we work with Aramark, which takes care of concessions, to ensure they have the power needed in their concession rooms to keep everyone fed and happy.

We completed lighting upgrades for the 2017 Super Bowl, which we were very excited about.
